Scream Thy Last Scream
Here’s something exciting. A recently discovered, excellent quality 1967 recording of Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett in Stockholm! Holy crap. This show blows away other original lineup Floyd gigs of a similar vintage in terms of listenability. Bad news: the vocals are almost nonexistent. Good news: the band is on fire, and the jams here are furious. Actually, since you can hear Roger Waters’ vocals on “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun,” it’s possible Syd just wasn’t singing on this particular night. I wouldn’t put it past him! But seriously, if you dig the Barrett era of the Floyd, this is a must-hear.
