Punk Peel
Here’s a neat little time capsule for you — John Peel’s punk rock-themed show, originally broadcast on Dec. 10, 1976. All kinds of fun stuff going on here, from the Damned’s raucous live session to Peel’s own attempts to grapple with what exactly “punk rock” is. He plays a lot of groups you might expect (Ramones, Television, Sex Pistols, etc.), but also a handful of bands mostly lost to the sands of time (The Fast, anyone?*). The ever-astute Peel also links the punk movement to Nuggets-style acts like the Seeds. Anyway, kind of a fun snapshot of an incredibly different time.

*Having said that, I’m sure someone out there will tell me The Fast were the best punk band ever.
