Bermuda Triangle
Who the hell is the dude hanging out in between Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie? It’s Bob Welch, who sadly passed away this week. As I noted, I’ve only recently come around to his era of Fleetwood Mac, which, in the incredibly tangled web of the band’s history, was post-Peter Green and pre-Buckingham/Nicks. The Bermuda Triangle, indeed! While the Mac during this period came nowhere near the commercial heights of that they’d reach without Welch, they still made some extremely cool music, which you can get a taste of on this FM broadcast, recorded sometime in 1974. Some great tunes are played — including “Future Games,” “Hypnotized,” and “Sentimental Lady” (which Welch would have a solo hit with later in the 70s), as well as some dips into the Green-era repertoire. Very much worth your time! RIP, Bob.
