“Jokerman” - Bob Dylan, live on Letterman, 1984

A wild performance with a young band of L.A. punksters. This was the debut of “Jokerman,” I think, and in typical Dylan form, it’s radically different from the studio version on Infidels. This one is almost Television-y! In some alternate universe, Dylan took this band on the road for the remainder of the 80s and blew minds. Alas, he ditched ‘em for the high-priced session band that you can hear on the mostly horrible Real Live album. Oh well! All three songs Bob and band played on Letterman are worth hearing — here’s the audio
