Doom & Gloom From the Tomb

A selection of rad bootlegs + other music-y stuff. Come fly with me. tywilc at gmail.com @tywilc
Grateful Dead - Winterland Arena, SF, CA, June 17, 1975
We’ve reached show #10, people! As the poster above shows, this was billed as a Jerry Garcia show, but with both Kingfish and Keith and Donna also playing, I’m sure that most Dead Freaks knew that the “friends” mentioned would turn out to be the rest of the Dead. Things are still moving in a cocaine-y jazz rock direction, as the band tries out some newer, complex material like “Crazy Fingers” and “Slipknot.” There’s also a super radical “Blues For Allah” sequence.
Choice cut: As good as the more ambitious material is here, the winner goes back to a folkier place: the long, slow “Peggy-O” features Garcia at his most mournful, both vocally and instrumentally.
