The Grateful Dead - Boston Music Hall, Boston, MA, June 10, 1976
The music never stops!!! Show #11 in my Summer of Dead live archive crawl brings us a some of the spirit of ‘76. Extremely good show, sounds like everyone is having a great time. Since it was 1976, a little disco was creeping in, especially in the “Dancing In The Street” performed here (similar to how it would show up on Terrapin Station). I like that the disco beat was just in the air at this time, unavoidable even for a band like the Dead. America was just feeling a little funkier, you know? You know.
Choice cut: I lovvvvvvve the “Friend of the Devil” here, which gives the song a pleasing little rhythmic re-work. Keith gives up one of the best piano solos I’ve ever heard him do and Jerry responds in kind with his own sparkling section. So nice.
