Miles Davis - Juan Les Pins Jazz Festival, Antibes, France, July 25, 1969

There’s another Miles Davis bootleg series on the way early next year, and I believe it’ll feature this show, among other 1969 gigs. An incredible, under-recorded band, with Jack DeJohnette on drums, Wayne Shorter on sax, Chick Corea on electric piano, and Dave Holland on bass. Sort of a transitional period between the free-bop explorations of the Second Great Quintet and the cosmic journeys of Miles’ 70s electric bands. But however short-lived this period was, Miles could’ve spent the rest of his career digging into these grooves.
