Whatever happened to The Cools?! Thanks to Paul B. for this audience recording of The Feelies burning down Max’s Kansas City in September of 1978. A Labor Day weekend show, I presume? It’s a vital glimpse of the pre-Crazy Rhythms Feelies (another good one is over here), seeing the band adding Pere Ubu drummer (and future Golden Palomino) Anton Fier to its ranks. Is Dave Weckerman on here, too? Not sure when he became a full-time Feelie. A word to the wise — the bitrate on these mp3s is very low. But hey, we take what the good lord gives us, right? To be honest, it sounds fine to my ears. And on the plus side, it’ll download very quickly. Everything is all right!
